The Solent Network is a highly resilient RF data communications network, designed and supported by the South West Hampshire RAYNET group ( https://swhr.org.uk/ ) and implemented over Amateur Radio frequencies.

The network is intended to directly link key points of authority across the Solent region with IP connectivity, augmenting or replacing existing communications systems, notably in the case of incidents affecting communications infrastructure such as power loss or failure of a communications hub.

Design of the network is in early feasibility evaluation, services intended to be supported locally (only within the network) include:
– Email
– Text-based Instant Messaging
– File sharing
– SIP Phone and Video Chat.
– Collaborative Spreadsheeting
– Network Time Synchronisation
